Below is a bit of information about the different services we provide – we hope you find it helpful and that you leave our website feeling empowered.

General Dentistry

MP900185147Most of us make brushing and flossing a regular morning and evening routine, and although it is incredibly helpful in keeping our teeth and gums healthy, there are some areas that we simply can’t reach on our own. In these areas, stubborn buildup can harden to the surface of the teeth and cause tooth decay, cavities, and degeneration. Bacteria and plaque that accumulates on the surface of the teeth and in hard-to-reach areas can also cause gum disease and gum separation. Once the gums begin to separate from the teeth, bacteria and food can settle in these little pockets, causing infection and other complications. To help keep plaque and tarter under control and to prevent cavities and disease, it is highly recommended that you have your teeth professionally cleaned every six months.

What Is Involved In A Professional Cleaning?

During a cleaning visit, your hygienist will use tools like an ultrasonic instrument, a polisher, a scaler and a curette to remove plaque and tarter buildup on your teeth and gums. Fluoride will also typically be used to provide the teeth with added strength. For many patients, this is the best part of a cleaning because there are so many flavor options to choose from!

Gum Disease Treatment

One of the best ways to prevent and detect gum disease is through regular checkups and cleanings. These regularly-scheduled visits allow us to detect gum disease while still in the early stages and locate any areas of degradation. Should we find that you are showing signs of gum disease, we can design a custom treatment plan based on the stage and severity.
In addition to regular checkups, routine brushing, flossing and rinsing (with a mouth wash) can help prevent gum disease in between visits. To discuss your prevention plan and/or treatment options, call us at 615-864-8941.

Toothbrushes and dental flossTooth-Colored Fillings

Fillings work just as their name implies – they fill areas of the tooth that have decayed (often due to cavities) or cracked. Fillings are composed of a material that is designed to restore the integrity and appearance of the tooth and prevent further decay or damage. In the past, fillings were mostly made of metal, but at West Meade Dental, we are pleased to offer fillings that are identical to the tooth in both color and texture. If you are in need of a filling, don’t put it off! Call us today at 615-864-8491!

Root Canal Treatment

If you’re like most people, the thought of a root canal probably makes you cringe. But root canals can be absolutely vital to the preservation of a badly decaying tooth. During a root canal procedure, the inner pulp and nerve of the tooth is removed and the tooth is cleaned and then resealed. This prevents spread of infection and further tooth decay, and can save you from much more painful options like bone loss and swelling through the mouth, face and head. If you think you may be in need of a root canal, call us at 615-864-8941! And don’t worry – we have laughing gas!

Wisdom Tooth/Extractions

If you have a decaying or infected tooth that needs to be removed to prevent further infection, or think it may be time to get those wisdom teeth out, you can count on West Meade. We specialize in tooth extraction and will make you as comfortable as possible before, during and after the extraction process. Call us today to schedule your appointment and discuss your options!

Have you ever noticed how difficult it can be to get food out of the grooves and crevices of your molars? You brush harder and you use a tooth pick, and still, it seems you missed some. That’s where sealants come in. A dental sealant is basically a thin layer of plastic that it used to coat the top of molars, creating a smooth surface and keeping food and bacteria out. Dental sealants are one of the best ways to prevent cavities and tooth decay in the molars, which are at high risk because of their shape and the work that they do. They are almost constantly in contact with food and sugars, and the force of chewing can push particles down into their crevices and grooves. To find out more about the benefits of dental sealants, give us a call at 615-864-8941.

Crowns & Bridges

Porcelain Crowns

Like veneers, crowns can be used to alter the appearance of your teeth and improve the look of your smile. Crowns, however, do not only cover the face of the tooth, but encompass the entire tooth in porcelain. They also tend to be thicker and are typically used when the tooth has begun to decay. If your teeth have deteriorated and your smile needs a makeover, call us at 615-864-8941!

Porcelain Bridges

If you are missing adult teeth and are tired of hiding your smile, West Meade Dental can help! We offer porcelain bridges which are basically replacements for missing teeth. They are designed to be natural in fit and appearance, so that your smile can be restored to its original beauty. For more information, call us at 615-864-8941.

TeethTeeth Whitening

If you’re honest with yourself, you can’t live without that morning cup of coffee or tea and you certainly won’t skip out on that glass of wine with dinner. The truth is: just about everything you eat and drink can contribute to staining on the surface of your teeth. But you don’t have to give up the little joys of life and you don’t have to live with discolored teeth – at West Meade Dental, we specialize in professional teeth whitening services. Call us today to learn more about how you can brighten up your smile! And don’t forget to ask about our current promotion!

Capped Dental Implant ModelRestoration of Implants

When you lose a tooth, an implant can be a durable and permanent option for replacement. But, like your natural teeth, implants sometimes need a makeover. If you would like your implant restored for a more pleasing appearance and fit, you’ve come to the right place. We specialize in complete implant restoration, guaranteeing an implant that will look and feel natural and fresh. With West Meade Dental, you can be confident in the durability, appearance and fit of your dental implant. Schedule your restoration, today! [Link to Contact us]

Porcelain Veneers

At West Meade Dental, we offer our patients porcelain veneers when they have relatively healthy teeth and simply want to alter the appearance of their smile. Unlike crowns, veneers simply cover the front part of the tooth, leaving the rest of the tooth in its original state. Veneers are used when patients desire a change in the color or shape of their teeth, or when they have unnecessary gaps or spaces between their teeth. Although veneers can be made from resin as well, we prefer porcelain for its stain-resistant properties, its thinness, and its strength. If you are considering veneers, please call us at 615-864-8941 – we’d love to talk to you about your options!

Dentures & Partial Dentures (& Repairs)

If you suffer from tooth loss, either in part or in whole, you may want to consider having dentures made. At West Meade Dental, we specialize in both full and partial dentures, and can help you sort through your options and make the best choice for your situation. We also specialize in denture and partial denture repair and restoration. For more information, call us at 615-864-8941.
